Teams hack their way to solutions for 787 production

What happens when 85 enthusiastic Boeing teammates spend three days in a room together? They solve tough challenges they and their teammates face on the production floor.

Recently, Boeing South Carolina hosted the 787 Hackathon, resulting in a series of improvements that can quickly make a difference in efficiency and production costs for the 787 program.

Teammates from a variety of backgrounds – IT, Engineering, Operations and more – were part of the three-day hackathon and divided into 15 teams each addressing a specific topic.

“Our team worked really well together because of how dynamic we are in our different backgrounds,” said Jeff Travis, Stress Analyst. “So we all came together, found the pieces we could work on and executed.”

Each of the teams came up with innovative ideas to implement into production.
