The 2023 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing golf tournament took place in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, April 15-17. As part of Boeing’s 12-year sponsorship, it has become a tradition for a flyover demonstration to take place over the 18th green of the course.

On Saturday of the tournament, a Boeing 787-10, outfitted in EVA Air’s livery, wowed the crowd—and golfers—as it circled over the course at about 1,000 feet. The demonstration flight was captained by Boeing pilots, Klas Ohman and Ryan Murphy. BSC test director Courtney Buley was also on board.

Royal visit

In May, Boeing celebrated with Her Royal Highness Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, Ambassador of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States, and leaders from Saudi carriers, SAUDIA and Riyadh Air, at Boeing South Carolina. The event followed the March announcement for the two airlines purchasing a combined total of up to 121 787 Dreamliners.

The group of guests addressed more than 3,000 Boeing teammates and toured the 787 Final Assembly building.

The fleet orders are among the five largest commercial orders by value in Boeing’s history, supporting American aerospace manufacturing jobs at Boeing and across its supply chain. The purchase is part of Saudi Arabia’s strategic Vision 2030, with the goal of serving 330 million passengers and attracting 100 million visitors by 2030.

Congratulations to the 2023 STEM Signing Day honorees!

South Carolina high school seniors were honored at the 7th annual STEM Signing Day in Columbia, South Carolina. Similar to a college signing day for athletes, the 68 students were recognized for their intent to pursue a two- or four-year degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field after graduating from high school.

It’s clear these students are the future of innovation, and we were proud to be a part of their recognition along with the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, Tallo and other sponsors.

The simpler the solution, the better

Emily Travis is just one of many teammates at Boeing South Carolina contributing to a culture of innovation that is continuously improving products and the way they’re built.

Since 2009, more than 1,250 BSC teammates have received U.S. patent grants for nearly 800 unique inventions or processes. In 2022, BSC continued to lead the enterprise in invention disclosures per capita.

Teammates in the Community

Preserving the coastline

We’re committed to protecting the beauty of our South Carolina coastline. Our teammates took part in several volunteer events to help renourish and preserve the shoreline.

In March, some of our teammates partnered with The Nature Conservancy to build an oyster castle (pictured above) along the Edisto River. The concrete structure will provide a habitat for over a hundred species of fish, crabs and shrimp.

In honor of Earth Month in April, BSC teammates worked with representatives from the Coastal Warriors Veterans Program to perform a beach sweep with our partner Coastal Expeditions (pictured below). Their work helped protect a crucial nesting environment for seabirds, shorebirds and loggerhead sea turtles.
